Tasting: Boet Le Roux Old Vine Colombard 2014

Variety: Colombard
Region: Swartland
Country: South Africa
Year: 2014
Price: $7.95 at Vintage Cellar, $13 Frontline

Review by The Washington PostColombard is not considered one of the great wine grapes and is used mostly for Cognac in France and white jug wine in California. This old vine example from South Africa, though, is delicious. Crisp and refreshing with zesty acidity, it's a delightful wine to start a party.

My Review: This wine was definitely one to note. On the nose you almost immediately get a subtle sweet, fruity smell of citrus such as lemon and grapefruit. This wine is crisp and light with those citrus flavors coming through, along with hints of pear and banana.

I did not taste this wine with food.
